DescriptionPostcard of the C.S.S. Arkansas (built in 1862). Image of the CSS Arkansas is in sepia, framed with multi colored images of pistols, swords, a drume, flag and the U.S. Capitol Building. On front reads: "CSS Arkansas, Built 1862 Confederate States Navy Yard, Yazoo City, Mississippi" The back reads: " This rare tinted photograph hangs in the Chancery Clerk's office, Yazoo City. The CSS Arkansas, an ironclad Confederate ram vessell, was the terror of the Yankee fleet until her engines failed trying to break the siege of Vicksburg, at which time her captain ordered her blown up to prevent capture."
