    DescriptionCabinet card photograph of James S. Hill. He is wearing a United Confederate Veterans uniform. Written on the back: "Captain J.S. Hill, fought for Confederates in Civil War. Gave Grandma Bogart away at wedding. Winnie De Coster's father".

    Hill served in the Arkansas 21st Militia Infantry, Co. E as a captain during the Civil War. He also served in the 37th Arkansas Infantry, Co. B as a sergeant. He was wounded in the leg at Prairie Grove and furloughed in 1862 for 30 days.
