William Warfield was a concert bass-baritone singer and actor born in West Helena, Arkansas, in 1920. Warfield is best known for his roles in “Porgy and Bess” and in the film version of “Showboat." Record album and cover from the production of the 1951 film "Show Boat," starring Arkansas native William Warfield. The cover is bright yellow with white print and a drawing of a smokestack in black. On the smokestack are the credits for the soundtrack -- the title of the film, "Show Boat," appears in red lettering with a yellow outline. In a white-outlined rectangle box below the title appears "Also Starring / William Warfield" in large white text. To the right of the smokestack are a red flag -- "An Original Cast Album of the Exciting New Production" is printed in white lettering inside the flag -- and another smaller grayish smokestack. There is no text inside the smaller smokestack. The album was produced in 1966 by RCA Records.
