"P.S. - After 5 full pages of conversation forgot to say that poor Old Walter died a week ago last Friday. Sure did hate to see him go - for he was a real friend. He was buried at Woodson where his wife's folks live. Just think of Lavinia - wife - being left to feed, clothe and educate 7 children. Isn't it a crime? E.
Have made some of the prettiest doilies and dresses, scarves you ever saw. Got beautiful lace at Blass - $.05 yrd. - and scraps from my linen suit. Really very effective.
Reverse reads "I shall be very loath to die, and leave the scenes I love, to lie
in that low gloom we call the tomb. Nor am I cowardly! Not I! I have a more sustaining faith than that life fades to misty wraith. I have no fear, no catching breath, to face the grim grey spectre, Death. I'll raise no hue, nor weakly cry. I am no craven. I, who die! But be assured that this I know, When I have life, I'll loath to go because I love earth's beauty so. Geo. William Allison"
