Hart's Battery was organized at Dallas, Polk County, Arkansas in August, 1861. Hart's battery fought at the battle of Elk Horn Tavern (Pea Ridge) and their colors were captured at the battle of Arkansas Post on January 11, 1863. Afterwards, the unit was reorganized and continued to serve for the remainder of the war in Arkansas.
