DescriptionPiece of the original fountain from 1876. The piece is approx. 18 inches long and covered in rust. It is from the original body of the fountain. A head and neck of a heron can be made out in the sculpture.

The fountain was purchased by the ladies of the Centennial Club of Arkansas for the 1876 Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was then installed in front of the Old State House in 1878 a year before the city water system was turned on. Fountain was found during the excavation of the cistern at the Old State House in 1998. The fountain was cast by Robinson Iron of Alexander City, Alabama in 1876, and was restored by them in 1999.
