    DescriptionA brooch attributed to Alta Faubus, wife of Orval Faubus, the Thirty-sixth Governor of Arkansas. The pin features a brass frame with four clear oval stones arranged around a singular round stone in the center.

    Celia Alta Faubus was born in 1912 and she married Orval Faubus in 1931. She was a rural school teacher for some time and later went on to become the editor and publisher of the Madison County Record. Alta and Orval had one son, Farrell Faubus. Alta went on to be the Thirty-sixth First Lady of Arkansas when her husband Orval was elected governor in 1955. She divorced Orval in 1969. Alta died in 2002.
