DescriptionConfederate Belt Plate Buckle. This egg shaped "CS" pattern belt plate with a thin border was recovered from the old Dearing house site in Bellefonte, Arkansas. A former Confederate soldier, A.N. Dearing, lived in the residence. Dearing served in Co. D of the 27th Arkansas Infantry. Private - Enlisted at Washington Barracks, Arkansas, February 15, 1862; age 22; absent without leave, February 28, 1863; subsequently served in Harrell's Battalion Arkansas Cavalry. Washington Barracks was located just south of Crook Creek Post Office (now called Harrison) in Carroll (now Boone) County. It was at or near Bellefonte, about five miles south of Crooked Creek P.O. (Harrison)
