    DescriptionCabinet card photograph of J.R. Fellows made in Washington D.C. during his term in Congress. The back of the picture contains a brief biography of Fellows including his moving to Arkansas from New York, his capture during the Civil War, and his service in Congress from 1890-94:

    "Col. John R. Fellows (Democrat) b. Troy NY 1832. Moved to Ark. 1840. Ed. in Ark. Studied law there & admitted to Bar in 1855. Opposed secession but served South in Civil War Jul. 1863-Apr 1965. Was pris. of war. 1868 deleg. to Demo. Nat. Conv. in N.Y.C. Was persuaded to remain in N.Y.C. Was assist. D.A. in N.Y.C. Congress 1890-1894 (Demo.)"
