DescriptionThe “Tucker Telephone” was a punishment device invented at Tucker Prison. The device consisted of an old-fashioned crank telephone wired in sequence with two batteries. Electrodes were attached to a prisoner’s big toe and genitals. The electrical components of the phone were modified so that when the phone was cranked it sent an electrical current through the prisoner’s body. It is believed the device was constructed in the 1960s and was used until the 1970s.
