Claude King (1923-2013) was an American country music singer and songwriter, best known for his 1962 song “Wolverton Mountain”, a million selling hit based on a real person that lived on Wolverton Mountain north of Morrilton, Arkansas. In 1981, Arkansas Governor Frank D. White paid tribute to King by declaring August 7 “Wolverton Mountain Day”.
A Claude King album entitled "Meet Claude King". The album features a photograph of King with his arms folding in front of him resting on top of a guitar. King is dressed in a brown jacket and is wearing a wristwatch. The album title, credits, and song list are situated on either side of King. The album was produced by Columbia Records in 1962.
