DescriptionOne of fifty Arkansas State Police issue Smith and Wesson 38-44 Heavy Duty .38 Special 5 inch barrel revolver. Marked "Arkansas State Police" on the back strap. This revolver was one of the first fifty revolvers purchased in 1937. This agency carried this revolver in one form or another until 1966 when they changed to the Smith & Wesson model 28 "Highway Patrolman," a four inch barrel .357 magnum revolver.Status
