DescriptionA re-elect Dale Bumpers for Senator T-Shirt reading, "What A Senator Should Be."

Dale Leon Bumpers was born on August 12, 1925 in Charleston, Arkansas. He married longtime girlfriend Betty Lou Flanagan on September 4, 1949. After serving as governor for four years, Bumpers ran for the U.S. Senate in 1975 and won, defeating longtime Senator J. William Fulbright. Bumpers served as a U.S. Senator for twenty-four years during which highly supported environmental legislation, expansion of funds and land to the National Park System, and efforts to reduce national debt. Bumpers efforts in environmental legislation and the preservation of parklands and wetlands awarded him the Ansel Adams Award from the Wilderness Society in 1998. He died on January 1, 2016.
