Whereas a certain Negro man calling himself
Washington about 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high of a
black complexion a dark (crossed through) blue cap on wearing
a (?) coat & cotton pants much worn -- good
shoes (Red Russets) hath been brought before the
undersigned a justice of the peace in & for
the township of Clear Creek in the county of Hot
Springs by said J.P. Tucker charged with being
a runaway slave & whereas is (?) (?) said
justice that said negro is a runaway slave be-
longing to Willis L Summerville you are there-
fore hereby authorized & empowered to take the
said Negro & (sic) him safely convey & deliver to said
Willis L Summerville & I certify that the follow
-ing fees are due for apprehending said
slave
