    DescriptionWillis-Burke Family spinning wheel: Missouri Caroline ("Callie" Moore) Willis came to live in the vicinity of Amity, Clark County, Arkansas with her husband, Baptist preacher and William Franklin Harris. The came to Arkansas from the Dark Corner Beat (near Granada) in Holmes County, Mississippi soon after the Civil War. At this time the couple had two to three children. After settling in Arkansas the family grew to eleven children (one boy and ten girls). Family tradition states that the spinning wheel came with the family from Mississippi. Tradition states that Callie thread many a foot of cotton thread on the machine. When her husband dies in 1920, Callie moved to Glenwood to live with her daughter (Eva Eugenia Burke Parham). It is recorded that a special place was made for the spinning wheel right outside her bedroom. Callie related the story of the spinning wheel into the story of her travel throughout her life.
