DescriptionOrval Faubus Doll dressed like Betsy Ross sewing an American Flag with a Confederate flag where the stars normally go. The doll is based on a George Fisher cartoon.

George Edward Fisher was born on April 8, 1923 near Searcy, Arkansas. In 1943, he was called to active duty with the Army Reserves. His first position as a cartoonist was with the West Memphis News. After the West Memphis News closed in 1949, he began drawing political cartoons free of charge for the North Little Rock Times. He was hired on by the Arkansas Gazette in 1972, and worked there until the Arkansas Democrat bought its assets in 1991, after which he drew for the Arkansas Times. Fisher passed away on December 15, 2003 of a heart attack at his drawing board in his Little Rock home.

Orval Eugene Faubus was the thirty-sixth Governor of Arkansas (1955-1967).
