DescriptionConfederate flag lapel button. Circular in shape, the facade of the button is decorated with some form of primitive enamel, previously identified as "cloisonne." The design is a Confederate flag, gold stars in crossed blue strips on field of red, with a white background. The white is worn above and to the left of the flag, exposing the unfinished metal beneath. The reverse of the button has a detachable concentric metal projection (numbered as "b"). Likely manufactured by Whitehead and Hoag.
