DescriptionMetal bullet with two grooves, a pointed conical tip, and no cavity. The bullet, a .52 caliber Sharps Carbine, was excavated by James Boney from the Mount Elba Battlefield in Cleveland County. This was the site of a March 30, 1864 Camden Expedition-related action. This bullet was most likely dropped by a trooper from the 5th Kansas Cavalry, the only cavalry at the battle and a unit armed with Sharps rifles.
