DescriptionBrownish-green military hat with a brown leather bill and strap. There is a metal eagle emblem in the center of the hat. There are two small moth holes on the top of the hat.Oravl Eugene Faubus was born on January 7, 1910 in Madison County. Faubus served in the army during World War II as an Army intelligence officer in five major campaigns in Europe. By the end the war Faubus attained the rank of major. After the war, Faubus was rewarded with an appointment to the state highway commission and later worked in the governor’s office as an administrative assistant. In 1955, he defeated Pratt Remmel for the governorship becoming the thirty-sixth governor of Arkansas. He left office in 1967. Under Governor Frank White, Faubus was named the state director of veteran’s affairs. Faubus died on December 14, 1994.
