Sepia image depicts nineteen veterans of the Civil War assembled in three rows. The men are seated along a set of steps, dressed in suits white ribbons pinned to their lapels.

John O'Brien was born Sept. 2, 1827 in Ireland. He entered the war at the age of 34 as a 1st Lieutenant in Co. F of the 25th Arkansas Infantry in 1862. He was promoted to Captain during the war. He died April 27, 1913 in Little Rock, Arkansas and is buried in Cavalry Cemetery in Little Rock.
