DescriptionFramed oil painting of Colonel John Josey. Painted by Emile Louis Herzinger. Josey served in the 15th Arkansas Infantry. Josey was elected Major of the Regiment on April 14, 1862 and then Colonel on April 8, 1863. He was arrested in Madison County, Arkansas on Feb. 14, 1864 and sent to Camp Chase, Ohio and then on to Point Lookout, Maryland. He was paroled on June 15, 1865 at Memphis, Tennessee. Josey died in Osceola, Florida in 1866. The painting was probably done as a memorial.

The painting is framed in a brown wooden frame. A small metal plate is attached to frame in the bottom center: "Col. John Josey/15th Arkansas Infantry/by Emile Louis Herzinger". Josey is painted in uniform.
