DescriptionPainting of a house which was built in the early twentieth century west of Conway, AR on the banks of the Arkansas River. The house was built to house prisoners from the penal farm which was brought into the area to clear four thousand acres of land in the area. The land was purchase by JE Little and his wife Lollie. The house was called "Lollie." After the prisoners left the house was used by tenant farmers. The tenant farmers converted the building into a commissary and renamed it the Lollie Store. The store served as the local post office until 1911 and did not close until 1979.
