    DescriptionA wood engraved print titled "A Quilting Party in West Virginia." The photo depicts men, women and children gathered in a large room with a stove. The print is from Gleason's Pictoral Drawing Room Companion which was published in Boston in 1854. The number "249" written in black ink is located in the top margin, and the initials "IBSC" are located in on lower right. In this rural scene, the quilting party is an occasion to draw all members of the community, young and old, together.
