DescriptionConfederate veteran's medal. Co. A, 6th Arkansas Volunteer Infantry. Medal in 5 silver metal sections, fastened to faded blue ribbon. Embossed black lettering: "Co. A./6/Arkansas/Vol. Inf." and an attached round pendant: "C.S.A., 1861-1865" and Confederate battle flag design. The first four sections are of identical irregular shapes with embossed black borders, joined by silver metal links, one on each side.

This was worn by John Gould Fletcher's father, John G. Fletcher, Sr. who served in Co. A, 6th Arkansas Infantry. He mustered in as a private and ended the war as a captain. Fletcher was born Jan. 6, 1831
and died Jan. 31, 1906.
