DescriptionAmerican school-style oil on canvas portrait of General James Miller, the first Governor of the Arkansas Territory. James Miller served as a brigadier general during the War of 1812, inwhich he became known as the "Hero of Lundya's Lane" during the Battle of Lundya's Lane. Miller was appointed as the first governor of the Arkansas Territory, in 1819, as well as superintendent of Indian Affairs for the Arkansas Territory.
