    DescriptionThe "American Reports" volume 1-60 set from 1871. This set belonged to Governor Jeff Davis. Beige leather bound books with red square shape with "American Reports” stamped in gold and red diamond shape with volume number stamped in gold. Some have brown leather repairs to the spine and are numbered in ink on the spine. Some have black band on spine stamped in gold "Jeff Davis." Volumes 1-24 don't have black band on spine listing statutes, page numbers; 25-60 do. Milton G. Robinson, Attorney at Law, Stuttgart, Arkansas stamped inside front and back covers.

    Jefferson "Jeff" Davis was born in Rocky Comfort, Arkansas on May 6, 1862. Davis served as the twentieth Governor of Arkansas from 1901 to 1907. Although his administration was said to have "produced more politics than government," Davis succeeded in building a new state house and reforming the penal system. Davis passed away on January 3, 1913 in Little Rock, Arkansas.
