    DescriptionLetter is written on brown, blue lined paper, in black ink. There is an Arkansas seal in the document's lower right corner. The letter states that Ephraim W. Falls leaves his power of attorney to William Hall. Falls is leaving to serve as a state soldier. Fall authorizes Hall to hire his slaves, pay bills, and collect his accounts.

    Bradley County Arkansas
    As I am to leave in the serves [sic] of the state as a soalder [sic] I, E.W. Falls, have this day, July 16, 1861, placed in the hands of William Fall the not(e)s or bonds that I have withall all papers relating to business (?) for land deed patents etc. sutch [sic] as receipts for notes of mine in the hands of other persons for colection [sic] and I so autherise [sic] the said William Fall to hire out my slaves, receve [sic] money that may be due me and pay not(e)s on acounts [sic] that ar [sic] aganst [sic] me. The following notse [sic] or receats [sic] for not(e)s in his hands, William Hall, one note on Mrs. P.L. Erwin and T.A. Erwin for one hundred and forty nine dollars at 10 percent due 2 day of January 1861.

    Rev. J.M. Brown receapt [sic] for a note on B.C. Stanley for sixty seven and 80/100 dollars due Oct 22 day 1860

    One note on W.C. Parker for fifteen dollars due 9 day of Aug 1859
    One note on J.(?) Lesley & W. (?) Lesley for sixty dollars due 1 day of January 1862
    One note on S.D. Lesley & W.(?) Lesley for one hundred dollars due 1 January 1862
    One note on W.S. Lesley & J.(?) Lesley for one hundred and fifty dollars with a credit due with note for thirty five 03/100 dollars, the note is due 1 day of Jan 1862
    A receipt on Walker (?) Buie(?) of Chester, South Carolina for notes in their hands as follows one note on John Simpson, W.A. Burns, Wm E. Kelsy for six hundred & ninty [sic] dollars with anuel intrust [sic] dated July 16, 1857 and one on A.B. Brown fo one hundred dollars dated 25 of March 1857 and payable at one month 3 December 1858
    Walker (?) Buie
    There was a check sent to E.W. Falls dated 23 of Nov 1859, said Falls sent a receipt for the check & (?) sent to him 495 70/100 dollars dated December 6 1859. There is still due (?) on the above near 450 dollars
