DescriptionCarte de Visite photograph of General Powell Clayton. Clayton initially served as Captain of the 1st Kansas Infantry and was later appointed Colonel of the 5th Kansas Cavalry. He was commissioned Brigadier General of Volunteers on August 1, 1864. After the war, he served as Governor (1868–1871) and Senator for Arkansas.Status
