DescriptionDoctor's medical card catalog from Hot Springs, Arkansas. Kept by Dr. Lewis G. Martin who graduated from the University of Alabama(?) Medical School in 1915. He served as a doctor/medic in both WWI and WWII.

Although the card catalog deals with the treatments for a variety of ailments (malaria, rheumatism, gastritis, etc.), the majority of ailments listed were venereal disease. Hot Springs was known as one of the best places for treatment of venereal disease. In fact, special facilities for these treatments were built by the government in Hot Springs. The patients in the card catalog came from all over North America for treatment and the majority are white males.

Physician's card catalog with high gloss finish. Holds 3x5 cards with medical histories hand written (some typed) on the card. Drawer has brass pull and label holder screwed on to the front. Brass makers information is nailed to the face of the catalog: Yawman and Frbe Mfg Co. Rochester NY, USA.
