    DescriptionCarte de visite of Ferdinand Engel, Private, Company H, 43rd Illinois Infantry. Engel was from Belleville, Illinois. Signed up in Belleville in 1864 and mustered in at Springfield. He was 36 years when he signed up. He listed himself as being 5'5" with blonde hair and gray eyes. Engel was later transferred to Company C.
