DescriptionA Mike Beebe gubernatorial campaign brochure. The front cover has a color photo of Beebe and in white lettering above the photo: "Mike Beebe Governor." Below the photo in yellow lettering: "Believe in Arkansas." Beebe was serving as the Arkansas Attorney General while campaigning for Governor in 2006.

Mikey Dale "Mike" Beebe was born on December 28, 1946, in Amagon, Arkansas. He graduated from Arkansas State University in 1968 with a bachelor's degree in political science, and he earned his law degree in 1972 from the University Of Arkansas School Of Law. After passing the bar, Beebe began practicing law in a firm in Searcy, where he would later become a partner and earn his outstanding reputation resulting in him being named the state's outstanding trial lawyer in 1982. That same year, Beebe began his political career as a state senator. During his twenty years in office, he was highly effective due to his pragmatic deal-making ability, and during his last session in the Senate, Beebe served as the president pro tempore. In 2002, Beebe was elected the Arkansas Attorney General. Later on, in 2005, Beebe began his race for the governorship and won the 2006 election defeating Asa Hutchinson. As the forty-fifth governor, Beebe cut the state's groceries sales tax in half, increased school funding, increased tobacco taxes to pay for healthcare advances, and created the severance tax on natural gas to generate the financing of road improvements.
